Sewage Scandal Plus

iDaisy Cooper, MP, Deputy Leader of the Lib Dems has sent us this message:

In Parliament, in their constituencies, and even at the highest level of the Government, the Conservatives are running scared.

Today was supposed to be the vote on the flagship Liberal Democrat amendment on sewage to the Retained EU Law Bill in the House of Lords.

We were expected to win the vote – protecting EU regulations which help to keep our waters safe and clean.

But the Conservatives couldn’t face another damaging loss ahead of the local elections.

So they cancelled the vote.

Yet another anti-democratic, self-serving move from this Conservative Government.

There were over 3000 ‘monster’ sewage dumps last year alone. Sewage was dumped in Britain’s seaside towns for 125,000 hours last year.

We have them rattled with the continuing stream of damaging sewage revelations we have exposed in the last year.

We will continue to use every opportunity to remind voters across the Blue Wall about the track record of the Conservative party on sewage.

Why? Well it’s an environmental scandal, but it’s more than that: it sums up so viscerally the mess that this government has left in its wake.
